FRUIT, FLOWERS AND ANIMALS
Latest Paris designs for silks include silk patterned with fruit, flowers and animals. Clover blossoms figure in silk prints, with taffeta in silvergrey shades printed in all the tints of iris blooms. For afternoon wear, petunias are printed on silk, but nature is not copied over-lavishly for colours. Flowers range from palest pink to deep purply red violas and pansies. Yellows and purple are used with effect on printed shantung showing miniature fruits. One model, made of shantung and printed with miniature oranges and lemons, has miniature reproductions of these fruits in composition as buttons. Beach clothes for next season are adorned with life-size red lobsters and crabs, and other silks are printed with squirrels or lambs, witli wooden models of these animals forming the belt buckle, or decoration.
