MILK AND TIRE PRICES INCREASED
Notices Served in Hawke’s Bay
Dominion Special Service. Hastings, .March 26
Indications of a rise in living costs are beginning to show themselves in many places in Hastings and Napier. Two notices were served ij|mjh (lie public yesterday. Milkmen announced that as from next Tuesday there would be an increase in Hie price of milk of one penny for certain, and in some cases twopence a quart. Dealers in Hawke’s Bay have also been notified that as from Tuesday tire prices will be increased by 10 per cent, for t.he larger sizes and 5 per cent, for smaller sizes.
The upward trend of tlie cost of living is now becoming pronounced, and the present rise in the price of milk may further adversely affect consumption in a country where the amount consumed per person is already below the figures which are described as normal.
