BOY’S LONG VIGIL
To Prevent Suicide of His Father (Received March 24, 7.35 p.m.) New York, March 23. A message from Oxford, New Jersey, states that a boy, aged 14, who had gone without sleep for nearly 36 hours to prevent the suicide of his father who had been unemployed since he was crippled in an accident, took a nap and was awakened by a shot. He saw his father fire a second shot, fatally wounding himself in the head. The first shot entered his chest. The boy cycled a mile to tell his aunt.
