Gilbert’s Rink Wins The Public Trust Office rink skipped by W. Gilbert won the Public Service bowling ttournament, taking three games that were played yesterday without great difficulty. Public Trust beat Postal (Markman), 12-6, in the green final of ten heads, which was played at the Thorndon green in the morning. In the semi-final at Hataitai in the afternoon, Public Trust defeated Agriculture (Walker), 26-8, after 18 of the 21 heads had been played. In the final Public Trust defeated Postal (Potter), 24-9, the last three heads not being played. The victorious rink was J. Carrad, A. Bell, D. G. Munro. W. Gilbert (s.). The runners-up were W. Leahy, J. C. McCrea, J. O’Gorman, S. Potter (s.). . . . ~ ... ~ At the conclusion ot play Mr. 11. K. Jourdain, founder and secretary of the tournament, presented the shield to the winners, remarking that the Public Trust Office had been knocking at the . door for 21 years, but had never knocked as hard as this year. The Public Service Bowling Association having come of age, it had decided to give a prize for the winners. Mr. Jourdain handed to each member of the winning rink a silver cup. bearing the enamel badge of the association. He presented badges to each member ot the rink that was runner-up.
