CONCERT FOR SCHOOL BAND

There was not n vacant seat at the Hutt Valley High School on Friday evening, when a concert of particular merit, organised b.v Mr. D. McKenzie, was held in’ aid of the high school band. The stage was tastefully arranged as it drawingroom. The performers included a number of well-known vocalists and instrumentalists, and tlie programme comprised ;—Trios, "Lisolette,” “Minuet,” “The Countess of Westmoreland |s Delight” (Shields), Mrs. 11. S. Robertson (violin), Mrs. D. IV. McKenzie (’cello), Mrs. W. G. Gentry (piano) ; recitation. "Opening tlie Village Bazaar.” Bryce Glennie: song, "Linden Lea” (R. Vaughan Williams), Mr. Roy Hill; ’cello solo, "Songs Without Words” (Mendelssohn),' Mrs. D. IV. McKenzie; dramatic sketch, “The Secoiiu Guest,” by 11. Beresford and C. S.
