PRE-WEDDING PARTY
An enjoyable gift evening wa,s held at St. Stephen’s Manse. Lower Hutt, last Saturday evening, tlie hostesses being Misses R. and J. Callander. ‘ Tlie guest of honour was Miss Freda Buck, whor'e marriage to the Rev. K. 11. Evans will take place early in December. A pleasant time was spent with novelty games and. competitions and an appro-, priate recitation was given by Miss Gladys Stiles. After supper the guest opened her numerous gifts and' was presented with an unusual bouquet consisting of kitchen utensils and lilies, the centres of which were pegs. Mr. Evans thanked the guests for their gifts, and the Rev. J. Lopdell in a brief speech thanked the guests for their presence and their presents. Among those present were Misses Evelyn mid Esther Buck. W. Feist. C. Conlon. V. MacDonald, G. Stiles. E. and Z. Carilie, D. Winter, 11. Barton, 11. Browning. L. Findlay, D. Kersley. O. .Stansell, M. Clark, J. Mills, E. Thompson, J. Lockwood, M. Auld, W. Mclllraitii, M. and H. Proctor. M. Davidson, J. Henderson. M. McNeill, M. Burns, Mrs, Clark, Mr. and Mrs. G. Buck, Messrs. O. Bold. B. Grant. U. Withington, E. Thompson and many others. Mr. A. Callander acted as M.C.
