CARDS AND DANCING
A successful euchre party and dance was held in the Brooklyn Boy Scout Hall recently to assist the Otaki Health Camp fund. The hall was filled with enthusiastic card-players and a very enjoyable evening was spent Supper was served, and was the cause of comment and praise on the part of Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P. for the district, who in the course of a speech during the evening said he entirely disagreed with the Mayor’s remarks that the women of New Zealand could not cook. He also praised the committee for their efforts on behalf of the health camp fund. Thanks were given all those who had contributed to the success of the evening. The prize-winners were Mrs. Greathead, Mrs. Morris, Mr Pinhey and Mr. Appleby. Later in the evening dancing took place with Mr. R. Johns as M.C., and Mr. Baker as accompanist. The committee responsible for the arrangements comprised Mesdames Wigston, Badland, Pledger, Callow, Moncrieff, Pell, Porteous. Keenan, Messrs. Wigston, Badland and Coure.
