The young nations of the British Commonwealth have clearly entered upon a new era of development. They have been forced by economic circumstances to add secondary to primary industries and each is actively engaged in building up a balanced economy to meet its special needs. In this respect South Africa has a record of remarkable vigour and success, and wO in New Zealand note with admiration the phenomenal growth of your industrial enterprise. “I trust that the exhibition will be a means of furthering not only interImperial trade relations but also the welfare and- happiness of the people of South Africa and all the people of the Commonwealth. New Zealand wishes you success beyond your most sanguine expectations.’’
