HARRIER OUTINGS

Scottish Club’s Run

About 35 runners attended the weekly run of the Scottish club held from the residence of Mr. G. Zander, 73 Epuni Street, on Saturday. No trail was laid, and the runners ran in one pack, controlled by A. L. Stevens, club captain. After running through the plantation at the top of Epuni Street, various streets were followed in an endeavour to reach the open hills. Eventually Karepa Street was followed, and the runners went down, the hillside in r .o Polhill Gully. More hills were negotiated till the runners found themselves in Highbury Crescent, which was followed into Highbury Road and Moana Road to the cutting above the Karori tunnel. Here the pack split in two, some electing to return via Raroa Road and Aro Street, while the others went through the Northland tunnel and down Northland Road, across the viaduct, along Upland Road, Upland Crescent and Kelburn Parade; thence down Devon Street, back to Epuni Street. The runners were afterward the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Zander to afternoon tea. Mr. Ballantyne expressed thanks on behalf of the members, musical honours being accorded the host and h os t &cls . The following will comprise the Scottish club’s A and B teams to defend the Bennett Memorial Shield and Craig Cup next Saturday:— A team: Stevens, Riddington, Tunbridge, Woodley, Bruce, Violich. B team: Elleray, J. Garty, Silver, Foster, Tritt, Clement.
