To-day’s Recipe DATE FINGERS
Six ounces butter, 1 egg, pinch of salt, Hour as required, Coz. castor sugar, Boz. dates, 2 teaspoons baking powder. Beat, butter and sugar to a cream. Stir in beaten egg. Sift salt and baking powder with 2 or 3 tablespoons of Hour and add to mixture. Stone and chop dates, mix with 2 tablespoons Hour and add. Stir in enough sifted Hour to make a rollable dough. Press into a buttered baking-tin. Bake in a moderate oven for 20 minutes. When cold, store in a tightly closed tin.
