THE RAYNER SISTERS
Final Appearance In Wellington
The Blue Triangle Hall was again filled to capacity for the final performance of “Cap and Bell’s” on Saturday night, the last appearance of the Misses Joau and Betty Rayner, troubadours, in Wellington. Perhaps it. was the realisation that this was the farewell ■ performance that caused the’"iris to throw themselves into the folksongs and dances with even more zest and skill than ever, for the performance was certainly au outstanding one. and the audience could not express enough appreciation. Chanties, songs, folksongs and ballads, each held a new charm and beauty of its own, from the old. old tale of the little woman and the pedlar who “cut her petticoats all übouT,” to rollicking sea chanties and more involved tales such as the “Turkey Factor,” a Persian folk-story retold by an English ballad-maker of many years ago. To-night the Misses Rayner will leave for the South Island, where they will give similar performances from their troubadours’ repertoire of folk lore.
