NEW ZEALAND INSTITUTE OF HORTICULTURE
A meeting of the examining board of the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture was held recently. Professor 11. B, Kirk presiding. The Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, advised that gardens. nurseries, ofc., approved by the examining board, would be regarded as satisfactory training institutions for applicants fur admission tb Kew as student gardeners. Appreciation wits expressed of the excellent syllabus in horticulture prepared by the Canterbury District Council for the Christeliurch Technical College, aud also of the fact that classes had been commenced at AVellington Technical College. Several applications for examinations in November wore approved, and certilicatcs were granted to florists and seedsmen. An amended scheme of examinations in fruitculture was referred to a committee with power of submission to the executive council.
