CARD PARTIES

Members and friends had an enjoyable time on Tuesday evening at the headquarters of the Kilbirnie. Lyall Bay and Melrose Auxiliary Committee of the U.S.A. in Bay Road, Kilbirnie. when the weekly card tournament was held. Mrs. 11. Q. Bruce, president of the ladies’ committee, presented the prizes, which were won by Mrs. J. W Appleyard and Mrs. 11. W. Jorgensen (bridge), and Mrs. M. C. Mciz'od and Mrs. K. Rees (500). Mr. I’. F. t'oira expressed the plea sure of the auxiliary committee at (lie large attendance and extended tin invitation to till present to attend a social and dance which would be held at. the headquarters later in the week. Ho slated also that a Korero for returned men in the district would be held shortly At a card afternoon arranged recently by the ladies’ committee the successful players were Mr. R V. A.
