FENCING MATCHES
Swords Club and Durham Crew Meet Members of Ibe Wellington Swords Club and a team from tlie crew of the liner Durham met iu sabre and foil matches at Hie gymnasium of Miss Zena Clarke, Lambton Quay, last night, the Durham team winning in sabre by 7 matches to 2, and the Swords Club proving superior in the foil matches, the A team winning by 9 to nil aud Hie B team by 6to 3, On the last visit of the Durham to New Zealand, matches between the ship’s crew and the Swords Club were evenly contested, but last nighti’s contest showed that the standard of fencing of members 0 C the club has improved considerably. Following are the results: — Wellington Swords Club. —Foil A: Dr. C. E. Beeby, three wins; G. Harcourt, three wins; C. Morris, three wins. Foil B: J. Standard, three wins; T. Wilson, three losses; J. Roberts, three wins. Sabre: G. Harcourt, two wins, one loss; Sub-Lieut. J. King, three losses; Sn’b-Lleut. Messenger, three losses. Durham.—Foil A: Cadet Colomki, three losses; Lieut. Branch, three losses; Lieut. IV. Attfield, three losses. Foil B: Cadet Sindall, one win, two losses; Cadet J. Clunies-Ross, one win, two losses; Cadet J. Williams, one win. two losses. .Sabre: Cadet Coloinski, three wins; Cadet Sindall, two wins, one loss; Cadet Underwood, two wins, one loss.
