ENGAGEMENTS
HOLMES—PATTERSON. The engagement is announced between Margaret, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Patterson, Mulgrave Street, and Frederick, second son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Holmes, Northampton, England. RESIDENTIAL NURSERY Mrs. L. O. H. Tripp presided over the executive meeting of the Women’s National Reserve Residential Nursery, Owen Street. The matron’s report stated that the month had been au exceedingly busy one. During the latter part the nursery had been taxed to its utmost. The hon. treasurer, Miss Wiltshire, expressed thanks to the following for donations: Mr. Husheer (Napier), Mrs. L. O. H. Tripp, Mrs. James Marchbanks, Lower Hutt branch, KelburnNorthland branch, Wellington South circle. The management committee of the Residential Nursery, Owen Street, met recently, there being a good attendance of members. Leave of absence was granted to Mrs. H. A. Parkinson, hon. secretary ■of the Kelburn-Northland branch, on account of ill-health, and best wishes were expressed for her speedy recovery. A hearty welcome was extended to Mrs. Franklin, who is acting in her place. Many cheering reports were given by various branches of functions held recently and of others being held in the near future to augment the funds which are urgently needed to carry on this admirable work. A special vote of thanks was pased to Mr. H. E. Taj’lor for his gift of half a ton of coal. The matron and committee express thanks to the following for gifts in kind, which help so much in the running of the nursery:—Mesdames Barclay, Beale, Peterson, Newton, Wells, Jack Mason, Ross, Martin Hewitt, D. 11. Taylor, de Tourettes, Porter, Misses Hall, Sheppard, Messrs. Elliotts, Chambers, Irvine Bros, and the Melrose branch.
