INVERCARGILL WORK

Track Still Very Heavy By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, May 15. Sprinting was practically the order of proceedings at Invercargill this morning. The weather was ideal, but: the track was still very heavy. The poles were out 35ft. on the course proper. Visiting horses already on the scene are The Smuggler and Umtali (F. Shiny), and S.almo Solar (J. Ruttledge), which arrived by float from AVingatui yesterday. Umtali, S.'ilmo Salar and The Smuggler (Cooper) were sent over seven furlongs, and finished in the order named with about half-lengths between tlK’ni in 1.42 2-5. The Inst four furlong-,- were done in 59.3-5. Umtali had a good pull in weights and the inside running, but he d showed rare dash for a ’chaser, and ie finished strongly. Sahno Salar carried i- about Ost... and was going well at the is finish. The Smuggler had the outside ie running, and shaped pleasingly. All I- three are in excellent trim. The only other interesting gallop was i- provided by Double Shot and Moneyless, who ran six furlongs together iu 1.24 y 3-5. the last four in 57 1-5. Both were running strongly at the finish, and it y was a good effort. * MASTER BRIERLY Return to New 7 Zealand h a Sydney, May 15.
