TRAINING CHILDREN

Talk to League of Mothers

The monthly meeting of the Eastbourne branch of the League of Mother.-* was held in the Masonic Hall recently, Mrs. V. P. Shearer presiding. The speaker, Miss Lorimer, gave an interesting talk on the training of children, emphasising the fact that owing to die freedom which the present-day children enjoyed there should be more supervision of their leisure hours. The most importtant tiling was to teach them obedience. Discipline really began with the baby in arms, but the years from two to five were most critical, as during that time a child began to realise obedience. Another important thing was to keep a child’s confidence.

“Train children to have self-control and self-discipline,” Miss Logmer continued. “The discipline of family life builds up nations and all training must have a religious background.” Mrs. Fraser Tythe sang two songs, after which, afternoon tea was served.
