Position on Good Friday
“1 feel that Good Friday and Anzae Day are two occasions when we can do without amusements,” said the Mayor. Mr. E. W. Wise, when moving at the meeting of the Eastbourne Borough Council last night that permission to. screen pictures on Good Friday be refused. "That is the attitude of the Petone and Lower Hutt Borough Councils, said the Mayor, who remarked that he had told the other councils he thought the Eastbourne borough would refuse permission. Cr. V. P. Shearer: The question is one for the council, no matter what other councils do. . The Mayor: Exactly. . The motion was carried unanimously.
