North Well Represented The Canterbury Jockey Club can look forward to good contests in the two leading handicaps at next month’s meeting. The nominations for the Great Raster number thirty-two, while there are twentysix in the Great Autumn, and they make up a very good list. In -each event half the candidates are from Riecartou stables, with other parts of the South Island slightly ahead of the North Lslaud in ■providing the balance of the entry. Princess Doreen, who won the Great Easter last year, is again eligible, but of the field she beat. Silver Streak, Rebel Chief, Cranford, Variant and Sea Fox are the only horses nominated this time. Rere.pai, second a year ago, is replaced by Rereatu, who may carry the same colours with distinction. There will be eouie changes in the weights, Silver Streak, for example, will not get in with the 7st. 13ib. be carried last year. The newcomers include some good performers, with Concert Pitch and Chief Ranger as two improving hacks, wl<> will have to be reckoned with. Tauramai and Minerval, first and second in the Great Autumn last year, are missing this time, but the third horse, Korero, is again in the list, also Tout le Monde and Golden King, unplaced runners. Here, also, there is good material among the newcomers, the three-year-olds, Greek Shepherd and Kinnoull, being welcome entries. With Silver Ring nominated for both races, there is no doubt as to the topweight. He will have a big load in both events, though it is possible lie may now be withdrawn.
