POWER INTERRUPTED

Fire at Bunnythorpe Palmerston North. January. 13. A house at Ruff's Road, Bunnythorpe, owned by Mr. J. Thompson aud occupied my Mr. IT. Thomas, was totally destroyed by fire early yesterday morning. The occupants, who were aroused by the noise of the flames, were forced to make a hasty exit through a window. Nothing was saved from the building. The fire caused q. brief interruption to the power supply of tho district. The service lines to the house fell across a macroearpa hedge and a passing motorist ran into tbciq, causing them to simp. One line was melted by the power arc and two others were badiy damaged. A. power board gang worked for four hours on Sunday afternoon repairing tlie damage by splicing in new sections.

As a result of sheeptworrying by. dogs in liis holding paddock near the abattoirs at Awatoto, Mr. B. Haynes; of Napier, suffered the loss of 14 sheep. Two dogs were responsible for the worrying, one a terrier and the other a large black dog of no particular breed, which was later captured.
