GRAND OPERA TO-MORROW

With a view to augmenting the Smith Family’s Christmas cheer fund for the unknown poor, the New Zealand Grand Opera Society has consented to give a further performance of Mascagni’s grand opera, “Cavalleria Rusticana,” in St. James Theatre, to-morrow evening, at 8.30 o’clock. The presentation will be the same as that given on the gala night of the recent season, and will feature the same cast of principals, including the brilliant young New Zealand actress, Miss Eunice Standen, as Santuzza; Miss Molly Atkinson as Mamma Lucia; Miss Marjorie Bennie at Lola; Mr. Ray Trewern as Turridu, and Mr. George Gray as Alflo. The scenery and costuming are particularly effective, anti the full operatic orchestra under Mr. Frank Crowther provides a colourful accompaniment for the singers.
