ELECTORAL ROLLS
Severe Purging at Auckland
Dominion Special Service. ■ Auckland, August 28
Sharp declines in the numbers of electors on the main parliamentary rolls for the nine constituencies in the Auckland metropolitan area have been shown in the compilation of the rolls for the present year compared with those in 1931. While it is usual before election time for many names to be eliminated from the rolls, the extraordinary decreases now disclosed may be attributed to the severe purging the lists have undergone within the past two months. It is expected that the number of voters will be largely recovered with the supplementary rolls, which ordinarily close within three weeks of the date of the general election.
