UNSOLVED CRIMES

Farmers’ Union Alarmed

Alarm at the number of unsolved major crimes in recent years was expressed in a Nelson remit carried by the Dominion executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union last night. The refnit, which also advocated the interchange of a police officer or officers with the C.1.D., Scotland Yard, was moved by Mr. K. J. Holyoake, M.P. (Nelson). He said the remit had been brought forward as a result of a recent unsolved outrage on a little girl in the north. Mr. P. J. O’Regan (Canterbury-West Coast) suggested that steps should be taken to secure a return of unsolved major crimes. If such a return could be obtained he was satisfied it would be absolutely staggering. “Everything in the garden is not lovely by any means,” said Xlr. O’HcjraD. The remit was carried.
