OBSTACLE REMOVED

New Zealand Harriers

VISIT TO AUSTRALIA

Sydney, July 24.

Tiie New South Wales Amateur Athletic Association to-day sent a cable to the New Zealand association accepting the offer to send a team to compete at the Australian cross-country championship. Tlie secretary, Mr. 11. F. Heathwood, states that offers to provide accommodation for the visitors had been made by local athletes, removing the onlyobstacle in the acceptance of the visit. As New Zealanders cannot hold an Australian title a test race between New Zealand and Australia is likely to be run in connection with the championship.

A cable received last Monday stated that Jlr. Heathwood, when informed that New Zealand was sending a team to compete in the Australian 10,000 metres cross-country- championship, said: “I’ve heard nothing officially. Why are they coming? They are debarred under the race conditions from securing any of the honours.”
