STRIKE CALLED OFF

Two hundred striking pickets rushed a detachment of the National Guard and were repulsed with tear gas. This occurred twice before the union pickets dispersed. The city was In a turmoil, with guardsmen patrolling everywhere, prohibiting the strikers from holding meetings.

The enamelling plant has suffered damage to the extent of many thousands of dollars from marauders. The Terre Haute Jlerchants’ Association voted to defy union labour and reopen 150 of the city’s stores.
