The Senate, by 61 votes to 15. passed the Agricultural Adjust mein: Act amendment Bill, much cut ami patched, but broadening and bolstering the Administration’s programme for increasing farm prices. Its two main purposes are to provide the Secretary of Agriculture with new weapons to push farm prices to parity with prices of other commodities, either by a processing tax or marketing and crop control agreements, and secondly, to prepare* for the time when the Supreme Court will pass the validity of tlie Agricultural Adjustment Act programme. The Bill validated all processing taxes imposed before Its passing, ratifying them at present levels, and legalised all benefit, contracts under which farmers have been paid about 700,000,000 dollars. The Bill, which has already been passed by the House, goes back for consideration of the changes made by tlie Senate.
