Masterton Racing Club’s Report Dominion Special Service. Masterton, July 24. The annual report of the Masterton Racing Club for the year ended June 30 last shows a loss of £2ll/13/11 for the year’s working in the profit and loss account, after providing for depreciation of £37/1/10 on club equipment and property. Continuing, the report states’: — “The spring meeting, held in October last, was a great success from a racing point of view. Splendid nominations were received, and the racing was of a very high order. The stakes were raised from £.1005 to £1750, an increase of £685, but the meeting showed a loss of £l4O. “The financial position of the club lias exercised the minds of the stewards, and to enable us to race in October next it has been necessary to make a canvass among members for donations. The memiters responsible for the canvass have beeu very successful, having received promises of £225 in donations. To these good friends of the club, the stewards are deeply indebted. These donations will enable us to meet our liabilities apart from the bank overdraft, and put. us in the position to carry on and hold our two-day meeting on October IS and 19. “Noiuiuiitioiis for the offices of president, two vice-presidents and eight stewards, not being in excess of the number required, a ballot will not be necessary. The retiring stewards are Messrs. AA’alter Cameron, IT. I’. Hugo. ,T. Jameson,, H. Morrison, D. M. Montgomery, J. 11. Payton, and F. B. A'ttllanee, and these have beeu nominated for re-election. Air. Hearn Smith hurt been nominated in place of Mr. J. M. James, who has been nominated as a vice-president to fill the vacancy caused by the death of the late Mr. Robert Cooper. “The stewards regret to record the death of two members during the year—• Mees-rs. Robert Cooper and V. E. Riddiford. Both were life members of the club, and the former was a vice-president at Hie time of his death.”
