BERHAMPORE FAIL
Definite Superiority of St. Pat’s Old Boys Spoiling tactics iby the Berhamipore forwards and numerous infringements on' both sides had the effect, of slowing down the match with St. Patrick’s Old Boys at Wakefield Park, otherwise the final score of 27 points to nil in favour oil St. Patrick’s would have been considerably higher. The whole tale of Berhamporo’s defeat was told in the comparison of the back lines. The forward packs were more evenly matched, but the St. Patrick’s backs, ragged as their .movements often were, played a totally different game from that of their opponents. Berhamipore were not lacking in vigour, and they made strong attempts to wear down St, Patrick's by playing a close game in which every man in the team was at all times liable to work as a forward. Berhamporo 'backs tried usually to smother opposing movements, but the tackling Was notably ineffective. St. Patrick’s gave a lesson in back play, which comparatively was excellent, and never lacking in dash despite frequent ruggedness. Tries for St. Patrick’s were scored by Dennehy, Black, r. O’Connor, and Wareham (three), K. O’Connor converted three of the tries, and added a penalty goal. Mr. A. de Clifton, was referee.
