PIONEER CLUB

Farewell to President . Cool colour was the keynote of the decorations at the Pioneer Club, where hydrangeas, gladioli, and lilies were massed against the walls and on the tables to make a fragrant setting for the party held last evening to farewell Aliss Amy Kane, the club’s president, who will leave New Zealand by the Alonowai to-morrow to commence a world tour.

Miss Kane, who wore a gown of light violet marocain, threaded with silver, was presented by the committee with a bouquet of red carnations and a farewell gift of a travelling carry-all and rug.

Four other members who will be travelling abroad in the near future and who were also farewelled were Mrs. J. E. Ramsay (black lace), Miss Al. Cooper (sapphire blue lace), Aliss F. Penny (vivid red coat over white flowered ninon), and Airs. Wittich ('blue and white floral georgette). Airs. Adams, deputy president, and hostess for the evening, wore floral chiffon.

Representatives from the Overseas League, Victoria League, Plunket Society, Trained Nurses’ Guild, Red Cross Society, English Speaking Union, Women’s Unemployment Committee, British Drama League, Dominion Women’s Institute, AVelllngton South Women’s Institute, and the Hospital Board, together with a great many club members, were present. During the evening the singing circle of the club gave items; solos were given by Airs. Al. Goodson, Aliss Ella Fair, and Airs. J. E. Ramsay. Airs. J. ADoctor was the accompanist for the evening.
