THE CHURCH ARMY
Captain W. R. Davey, 0.8. E., who left New Zealand for Australia on the Makura, supervises the overseas work of the Churcji Army. He has been visiting New Zealand in connection with the proposal to establish the Church. Army on a nermanent basis in the Dominion, as well's to visit the members of the column now on their thre.e-years’ mission campaign in the Dominion. , It is the custom of the Church Army in its overseas work to require the provision ot a capital sum before it consents to the establishment of an autonomous branch, and it’ was to discuss on the spot the scheme advanced by Captain Banyard that Captain Davey called on his way to Australia. ... ~ The project will no doubt be considered by General Synod standing committee in /August next. Prebendary Carlile and the London board are willing to loan Captain Banyard and other needed officers to establish the movement. It is hoped that plans will be made to make a start bv the time the nussidn campaign concludes at the end of October. A large number of keen young men and women of New Zealand have applied for training.
