THEFT OF TOBACCO
Receiving Charge Against Tobacconist Stating that the offences had. been caused, by the influence of liquor, Mark Fraser Parr, labourer, and Jack Cook, labourer, pleaded guilty in the Petone Magistrate’s Court yesterday to the theft of a quantity of tobacco, cigarettes, and chewing gum, valued at £B. They were convicted by Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within six months. In addition, Egbert Oswald Prier, tobacconist, was charged with receiving from Parr a quantity of tobacco and cigarettes valued at £5/3/3 knowing them to have been dishonestly obtained. He pleaded not guilty, but was convicted and fined £5 and ' ordered to return the goods.
