TOWN AND COUNTRY JOTTINGS

Standard of Dog Trials Improving When questioned ae to his opinion ae to whether doge and men were any better or worse than they were in the old days, Mr. R. McDonald, president of the North Island Dog Trial Association, and eon of the original organiser of dog trials in the North Island, remarked in a speech made at the meeting at Porangahau, that he thought that besides being every bit as good in both dogs and men as in the old days, it was most satisfactory to add that the number of first-class men and dogs bad increased ten-fold, all owing to the splendid organisation of the trial associations that have stimulated interest in the younger men ae well as holding the older members together. Semple, M.P., at Waitara on Saturday night. “He’d faint” replied a relief worker in the audience. Spillane Cup.
