WORLD’S WHEAT
International Committee (“Times” Cable.) (Received April 6, 10.10 p.m.) Rome, April 6. The sittings of tlie International Wheat Committee have opened. Tlie committee is seeking an agreement to raise the price by reducing exports or not selling abroad below a predetermined price. Tlie discussions denote progress toward implementing a wheat agreement. In a report on the crop situation, it was revealed that tlie American carryover would probably amount to 100 million bushels. The Australian wheat area will probably be reduced: Argentina is not restricting cultivation; Canadian sowings will be 15 per cent, lower; Russia is substituting wheat for rye; Germany has a slightly reduced area. Britain’s increase in area of six per cent, would lend to a pro rata reduction of subsidy.
