Can a motor camp be made too attractive? The question was debated ut a meeting of the Rotorua Borough Council when a member moved that a separate fund be created for the finances of the council’s motor camp, and that all profits be used for its maintenance. He was of opinion that the profits made should be used to provide many facilities of which the camp was in need. Another member held that the council should not provide too many amenities at the camp, having in mind the position of many hotel and boarding-house proprietors. The Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, pointed out that the camp site was one of the largest in the Dominion, and said that the majority of campers were well satis* fled with the service provided. Apart from suitable drainage, water supply, and snnitarv arrangements, the council should not provide too many amenities. All the money available would be needed to make necessary improvements. The motion to open the separate account was carried.
