CHRISTMAS CHEER
Elimination of Over-lapping
With a view to eliminating the possibility of over-lapping by the various organisations distributing hampers and gifts at Christmas among the needy, a meeting was recently convened at the Town Hall by the deputy-chairman of the Mayor’s Relief Committee, Mr. Haywood Mirams. Representatives of the New Zealand Smith Family Joyspreaders, the Returned Soldiers’ Association, the Salvation Army, and the Shell Co. employees were present. Other organisations who could not attend submitted their lists. ■ At the meeting, the names of all suggested recipients for hampers were checked over. Consequently, the public who have donated funds for Christmas cheer will be assured that there Is little likelihood of overlapping. The .Mayor’s Relief Committee is not issuing hampers this Christmas.
