BREAKING-UP PARTY

Plata Kindergarten The little folk of the Plata Kindergarten and Primary School were responsible for a delightful programme of songs, games, and dances at the break-ing-up party, which took place at Wesley Hall, Lower Hutt, on Tuesday afternoon. The afternoon opened with the singing of the National Anthem, and of the “Welcome Song.” The natural manner in which the children sang, danced, and played the various games, greatly appealed to their audience. Each child had made a Christinas gift for “mother” and “father,” and the nature of these gifts bore testimony to the more practical training received during the year. For each father was a calendar on which was a photo, of the school children, while the mothers each received a barbolu work vase. Before the presentation of these gifts the “presentation song” was sung. A friend of the children, Miss Barker, made each child a charming paper hat, A few weeks ago the children made a large number of gifts, which were exhibited for sale at the flower show, and as a result the sum of £4/3/6 was realised in aid of the Red Cross fund.

At the break-up the president of the Red Cross, Mrs. J. Mitchell, presented Miss Williams, the principal, with some books for the school. The dispensing of a delicious afternoon tea brought a happy afternoon to a close. Miss Shaw assisted Miss Williams.
