WILFUL TRESPASS
Man Warned Off Golf Links Although he was warned to keep off the Whakatikl golf links, a young man, Bruce Currie, paid little attention, and in the Upper Hutt Police Court yesterday he was fined £1 and costs by Mr. J. S. Barton, S.M., on a charge of wilfully trespassing on the links and refusing to leave after being warned by the owner. .
Mr. W. Fortune, who appeared for informant, said that the proceedings were not brought in any spirit of vindictiveness nor with the desire to inflict a heavy penalty on defendant, who had openly defied the owner and his agent. He had told them that lie would go on the property when he pleased, and indicated that nothing could be done to prevent him. The owner of the land had a number of sheep, and the acts of defendant were not in their best interests. Currie was warned some months ago not to continue trespassing, and on the occasion in question an authorised agent of the owner warned him not to go on the land, but lie was again discovered on the premises. Defendant was again warned, but his answer was to the effect that he would stay there if he wished to.
