This Year’s Plantings OBJECTIVE NOT ACHIEVED The planting operations of the State Forest Service in 1933 were briefly surveyed by the Commissioner of State Forests, Hon. E. A. Ransom, in a statement yesterday. The Minister said that the total area planted during the year was 30,705 acres. This fell short of the objective by 5057 acres, the reason for the reduction being the delay in filling camps. The area planted, however, was nearly twice as large as in 1932. when the acreage was 15,958. The total area planted to date in all State plantations was 394,184 acres. The new areas planted in the different State plantations were as follow: Waipoua, 545 acres; Riverhead, 198; Maramarua, 195; Tairua, 1766; Kaingaroa, 23,141; Erua, 865; Karioi, 1170; Golden Downs, 2288; Westland,' 272; minor plantings, 265,
