PERFORMING RIGHTS
Further Inquiry Pending The Hon. W. W. Snodgrass, in the Legislative Council yesterday, asked the Government what steps, if any, were being taken to deal with the actions of the Performing Rights Association which, according to the report of an Australian Select Committee, were not enforceable. The Minister of Education, Hon. R. Masters, said that the Dominion Government was a member of the International Copyright Convention, and as local legislation would be likely to encroach on International rights protected by such convention, it was not intended to introduce legislation until further inquiries had .been instituted concerning the attitude of the Imperial Parliament on this problem.
