UNITED OPPOSITION
Pensions Bill at Canberra
DANGER TO GOVERNMENT
Sydney, October 13.
The “Sydney Morning Herald’s” Canberra correspondent says that a serious situation has developed in the Federal Parliament. It was learned that the Country Party intended to insist upon an amendment of the Bill to give further concession? to old-age pensioners, and that it would receive support not only from the Federal Labour Party and the Beasley groitn, but from the Government’s own supporters who were prepared to vote against the Ministry unless some compromise were effected This is likely, but the GovernnicjP regards the matter as vital, and, if defeated, would seek dissolution.
