THE SMITH FAMILY
Past and Future Work
The monthly letter of the Smith Family to its members states that t lie thanks of the Family are due to many anonymous friends for their contributions during the past month. The dance arranged for the Australian naval squadron was a cheering evening, which resulted in-a very handsome addition to the funds.
The young ladies of the leading drapery houses of the city have formed a committee to hold a dance in the near future for the benefit of the Smith Family funds. The letter also mentions that the ladies of Trentham continue to do excellent work in the making of clothing, and have, in addition, organised a dance to be held on October 20, and -yet another committee has arranged a bridge party and Halloween party for October 31. In connection, with the coming Christmas, a big children’s party is to be held, and 600 families are each to receive a Christmas hamper, with toys for the children, food, a few luxuries for mother, and a smoke or present for father.
