Cricketing Material By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, October 12A request that the duty on cricket material be reduced so that the New Zealand price to' the player should be less costly, was made to the Tariff Commission to-day by Mr. Douglas Wanklyn, treasurer of the New Zealand Cricket Council. Cricket material, said Mr. Wanklyn, was imported from England in the finished condition, and the charges on bats Imported from England, including an ad valorem charge of 10 per cent, and a duty of 25 per cent., were so high that, a bat costing £l/10/- in England would cost £3/5/- in New Zealand.
