Cairns—Messenger

A recent wedding of interest in Palmerston North was that of Eileen Hammill, younger daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. W. H. Messenger, of Palmerston North, to Horace James, eldest son •of Mr. J. Cairns and the late Mrs. Cairns, of Wellington. The ceremony was performed in the Presbyterian Church by the Rev. G. T. Brown, M.A., and Mrs. B. F. Barlow played the wedding music. The bride, who was escorted by her brother-in-law, Mr. J. P. Laurie, wore a gown of ivory crinkle crepe made on fitting lines and flaring to the ankles. A coronet of orange blossom held the long veil in place and she carried a bouquet of cyclamen and camellias. Miss Frances Potbury and Miss Myrtle Cairns (sister of the bridegroom) were the bridesmaids. They wore frocks of desert glow and pale green crepe-de-chiue cut on long straight lines with frilled sleeves. Their white felt hats were trimmed with flowers to tone and they carried bouquets of freesias and polyanthus. Miss Beryl Laurie, a niece of the bride, was flower-girl. She wore a frilled dress of lemon crepe-de-chlne with a juliet cap, and her bouquet was of primroses and forget-me-nots.

Mr. A. Amos was best man and Mr. J. Long groomsman. After the ceremony the bride’s mother received the guests at Collinson and Cunninghame’s tea rooms. When Mr. and Mrs. Cairns left for the north the bride was wearing a brown silk marocain dress with a coat and hat to match-
