CARNIVAL PRINCESS

The Sports Representative SUPPORT FOR CANDIDATE Athletic bodies, racing clubs, trotting clubs, musical societies, the Law Society, the Society of Accountants, nurses, and the Civil Service, are banding together to uphold in the Confidence Carnival princess competition the yellow and black colours of the Sports candidate, Miss Gretta Stark. Miss Stark, who plans to hold a reception in the palm lounge of the Hotel St. George oh October 3 at 7.30 pan., is a keen sports enthusiast. She was secretary of the Wellington Basketball Association for a year, and was an active basketball player for six or seven years. She has been elected a life member of the Wellington Basketball Association in recognition of her services to that game. A keen golfer, Miss Stark is a member of the Sunny Bay Golf Club. She plays tennis, and is fond of riding and swimming. She is a popular radio personality, and has played prominent parts in several of the Wellington Operatic Society’s productions, including “Floradora,” “Our Miss Gibbs,” “Belle of New York,” “Tutankhamen,” and “Miss Hook of Holland”; and with the Repertory Society, ‘‘Trelawney of the Wells,” “Nine Till Six,” and “By Candlelight.” As there is no direct representative princess for musical and dramatic societies, they have been included in the campaign for “Sports.”
