REBUILDING WANTED
Parke Island Old People’s 1 Home DannevirUe, September 14. A unanimous decision that it would be In the best interests of the hospital boards in the Hawke's Bay province if the Parke Island Old People’s Home, which wag destroyed in the 1231 earthquake, was rebuilt, was arrived at by the Dannevirke Hospital Board this week. The chairman, Mr. L. Stein, said it was costing the board approximately £9OO a year to maintain 53 old people, whereas prior to the destruction of the homo the cost to the board was approximately £lOOO a year for 00 inmates, A resolution carried unanimously expressed the opinion that the board wao not satisfied with the existing conditions whereby the old people are not boused, in one home and no adequate provision exists for new applicants except by making additional individual payments.
