Ladies’ Auxiliary Meeting The Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Boys’ Institute which met recently, acts in an advisory capacity, on matters affecting the Institute boarding establishment, to the Institute Management Committee. There were present: Mrs. J. Hislop in the chair, Mrs. L. T. Watkins, hon. president, Mrs. Kemp, treasurer, Mesdames Short, Remington, McCallum, Miss Gilchrist and Miss M. Wills, secretary. Apologies were received, from Mrs. A. Wilson and Mrs. G. D. Talbot. A buying committee for the year was appointed and a visiting committee for the ensuing month. Mr. Wm. N. Happer, the director, was then introduced to the meeting, and asked to outline the arrangements for the Institute street day to be held on September 23. An appeal for assistance in setting up and stocking stalls for the sale of produce, cakes, flowers, etc., met with a ready response, and members of the auxiliary readily accepted an invitation to be present at a meeting of the street day helpers in the Institute hall at 8 p.m. on Monday. The success of the street day depends to a great extent on the efforts of such workers as the ladies’ auxiliary, it was stated.
