MORNING TEA
Mrs. J. G. Coates entertains
Yesterday morning Mrs. J. G. Coates gave a very delightful informal tea for Miss van Asch van Wyck, world president of the Y.M.C.A., in the members’ wives’ room at Parliament House. Miss Shiela Coates helped her mother to receive the guests. The room was gay with orange poppies, and over a delicious tea there was found much that was interesting to talk about. After tea Mrs. Coates took the guest of honour through the building. She was particularly impressed with the Maori carvings and raupo work in the Native Minister’s room. She also remarked that it was a pleasure to see a new Parliament building, as those in Europe were all so very old. Before she left the building Miss van Asch van Wyck had an interview with the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates. Among those present at the tea were:—Lady Myers, Lady Statham, Mrs. 'McMillan, Mrs. Hamilton, Mrs. Field, Mrs. W. Nash, Mrs. Chapman, Mrs. C. Turrell, Mrs. T. H. Hall, Mrs. R. A. Wright, Mrs. E. W. Kane, Mrs. MeKeen, Mrs. Gardner, Mrs. ‘ Pearson, Miss Stevenson, Miss Hall-Jones, Miss E. Fair, Miss Amy Kane, Miss Bridgeman.
