' BRANCH AT BROOKLYN
Success attended a meeting convened by the executive of the 'Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association at Brooklyn last night to form an auxiliary branch of the association to represent Brooklyn, Mornington, and Vogeltown.
Lieutenant-Colonel A. Cowles, president of the Wellington R.S.A., who.presided over an attendance of about 70, said the object of forming the branch was to endeavour to weld returned soldiers more firmly together. It was considered that the seventeen auxiliary committees of the association which had been formed would be able to get more closely into toucli with individual ex-service men and their economic position. A list of unemployed returned 'Soldiers was being compiled at the (head office, and it was hojied to get work for as many of these as possible 'through the relief schemes. Tuieutenant-Colonel li. S. McQuarrie, viee-president of the Wellington R.S.A., :said the association desired every re--1 turned soldier to enlist for the durajtion of the depression. While waiting ,for Parliament and outside organisations to do something, the R.S.A. was going to find work for as many returned men as possible. He instanced various schemes the association had in mind. ’ Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P., said he had found that many people in distress were too proud and sensitive to let anyone know their plight. He was certain that a branch of the R.S.A. for the Brooklyn, Mornington. and Vogeltown districts could do much humanitarian work. .. It was urfffniniously decided to form an auxiliary branch of the Wellington R.S.A. to represent the Brooklyn, Mornington. and Vogeltown districts. The following officers were elected Patron. Mt. R. A. Wright. M.P. I chairman. Dr B. Wright: vice-chairman. Mr. P. D. Barcliam ; hon. secretary, Mr. E. C. Hale; hon. treasurer, Mr. G. E. Shirley; executive. Messrs. E. G. McGill. W. E. Dear, W. S.
