Unemployed Workers’ Body
Communists and supporters otthe Communist party are excluded from membership of the Wellington Provincial Unemployed Workers’ Association bv a decision of representatives of the National Union of Unemployed. Mr. R. ■ Hedgeland presided, and it was decided to form a Wellington Provincial Council of the National Union, which would be known as “The Wellington Provincial Unemployed Workers’ Association.” ' It was also decided that the existing national constitution be adopted at present, branches to report on this question at the next provincial conference, and that individual branches be diryctly responsible to the provincial council for the affiliation fee of one penny per month per member (where no district committee is established), and that Wellington be left free to institute a system deemed most suitable by branches in Wellington. The following officers were elected (pro tern): President. Mr. IX. Duley; secretary. Mr. Donoghue; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. F. T. Arkle and C. J. Fl slier. Mr. D. McLaughlin, who was elected, provincial organiser, was instructed to seek the active assistance of the Industrial Labour Movement.
