NO OFFICIAL VETO
Civil Servants & N.Z. Legion An assurance has been given by the Public Service Conufiissioner, Mr. P. Verschaffelt, that no action will be taken to prevent Civil Servants from joining tlie New Zealand Legion. This information was given to last night’s meeting of the Wellington division of the legion by Mr. James McIntosh, divisional leader. Answering a question from one of the members, Mr. Mclntosh said that he iiad had an interview with the Public Service Commissioner, who had expressed surprise at the impression getting abroad that no Civil Servant eould join legion. Only that day the speaker had taken a letter to the tommisisoner, who had given an undertaking to ( remove the misconception about Civil Service membership of the legion which seemed to exist among certain sections qf the public.
